Can you reproduce it on Ubuntu 10.04 (lucid)?

No, I can't because I'm using 9.10 only.
Also I can add, that there was something wrong with libaudcore1. After updating this package to newer version a new problem happened (see backtrace below):

First, you don't use a package provided by Ubuntu. Therefore we can fix the bug. Second, this is a duplicate of bug #562713. I will fix this bug in Ubuntu.
