Emailed PDF shows blank in atril but AR is fine

I received a PDF file in email and downloaded it to my Xubuntu 18.04 desktop host. When I tried to read the document in atril, it came up blank.

I downloaded it to my Google drive and was able to read it there, but even downloading that copy showed blank in atril.

I viewed the document in my Windows VM with Acrobat Reader and it reads just fine.

Atril seems to be the problem.

4) I saw a blank page.
