Hello,
If Assistive Technologies (System>Preferences>Assistive Technologies) is enabled, the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client UI (panel icon/applet) does not appear, even though the daemon may be running. For some reason, there is a crash of the "custom icon".
Please see description on Cisco forums: https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/257195.pdf;jsessionid=EBD9B889499E7BFC599FA92ED0D80B09.node0
Unfortunately, Cisco won't fix anything without being paid to do so.
