Mute button doesn't appear to work

Binary package hint: ardour

Ardour 2.8.2 (built from revision 5396)
Ubuntu 9.10

What happens:
When playing if you press the mute button on any of the tracks it doesn't actually mute the track. Although the mixer levels (when set to post) go to nothing, meaning that nothing should be output. However the track is still playing and is still sent to the master output.

What should happen:
As above but the track should be muted and not sent to the main output.

Ok it does work. (But i had to right-hand click on the Mute button and tick 'main outs'). Wouldn't it be more intuitive if either:
-Main outs was set to be the selected option as default, so users wouldn't become frustrated because it doesn't seem to work.
-Or If no options are ticked then when you click the mute button it asks which one would you like to tick.

This bug is also present in the package ardour-i686 on the Lucid beta, with the additional problem that the solution provided by right-clicking and selecting "main outs" causes JACK to crash when a track is muted.

This is my first time posting on Launchpad, so I'm not sure if I should create a separate report for the ardour-i686 package or how I might add it to this bug.

Sorry, in addition to my previous comment, JACK is not crashing, just disconnecting Ardour. Here is the output from a terminal running jackd when I mute a track:

subgraph starting at ardour timed out (subgraph_wait_fd=9, status = 0, state = Running, pollret = 0 revents = 0x0)
bad status (1) for client ardour handling event (type = 5)

For the jack disconnection, please report a new bug (or see if it exists, either as a bug towards ardour or jack).

For the mute button, Bug #581786 (albeit reported later), seems to have ongoing activity, so it's likely better to focus on that one. Hence I'm marking this one as a duplicate of that one (although strictly speaking, it was the other way around).
