Its similar than https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/581786

but the solution in that bug report explains how to fix it but in ardour 2.8.12 (rev 10144) in ardour.rc:

   <Option name="mute-affects-pre-fader" value="yes"/>
   <Option name="mute-affects-post-fader" value="yes"/>
   <Option name="mute-affects-control-outs" value="yes"/>
   <Option name="mute-affects-main-outs" value="yes"/>

the options to change are changed.
