2011-10-11 20:47:05 Brian Murray description multiarch support, as added in Ubuntu Oneiric, makes it easy to install 32 bit packages on a 64 bit system. The 32 bit versions are named the same, but with ':i386' at the end, so if you're running a 64 bit system, there is no skype package in the repos, only one called skype:i386. Apturl flags valid package names as invalid, with the following error: Invalid url: 'apt:skype:i386' given, exiting Invalid package name 'skype:i386' TEST CASE: 1) In a terminal execute 'apturl "apt:skype:i386' multiarch support, as added in Ubuntu Oneiric, makes it easy to install 32 bit packages on a 64 bit system.
