Sorry - I should have said that going to http://apt.ubuntu.com/p/... doesn't work in Chrome 5.0.375.125 beta. All I get is a message telling me:

---
You don't seem to be running Ubuntu

i think this is an issue with the user agent that google chrome uses:

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US) AppleWebKit/534.3 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/6.0.472.22 Safari/534.3

Two possible fixes - fix the Ubuntu website to accept that user agent or submit a bug to chrome to pass the OS in as the user agent like firefox does

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:2.0b3pre) Gecko/20100802 Ubuntu/10.10 (maverick) MozillaDeveloperPreview/4.0b3pre

The current method of handling this - is to present the user with the option to acknowledge that the browser is currently on an Ubuntu machine (When faced with the message "Not running Ubuntu") This override option only shows if the User-Agent is X11; Linux. Doing so saves a cookie to prevent the message from appearing in the future and continues with the APTURL redirect.

This was originally a bug report for Google Chrome - Firefox has changed their Useragent behaviors as outlined in: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/709125 While the "work around" created for correct Google Chrome's behavior will work for Firefox it's certainly far from ideal.
