apturl-gtk crashed with AttributeError in parseArgs(): 'str' object has no attribute 'decode'

This was found while TRYING to get songbird running. Downloaded the tar.gz file, started to run the .bin file - and, this is what happens. It keeps crashing. And, getDeb isn't much help for 12.10 right now :(
