Most likely the code in kubuntu is taken from ubuntu, so a fix here could lead to the fix there.
This goes back to 2006 Dapper. Yet it's importance or assignment have never been done. How does that happen on something as important as the updater? Also, it's probably easy to fix, since the adept manager itself does not have a problem. So, just copy that code to the updater.
