Bug Description

Binary package hint: aptitude

I have just installed aptitude-gtk 0.6.3-2ubuntu2 - great to see that this has made it into Ubuntu! Unfortunately, it cannot be opened from the GNOME System->Administration menu link. An error dialog appears, stating:

Could not launch 'Aptitude Package Manager'
Failed to execute child process "su-to-root" (No such file or directory)

I can run it fine from the command-line.

su-to-root comes from 'menu' which doesn't seem to be used in Ubuntu. Switching to gksu works fine here.

I had exactly the same problem, when I installed aptitude.

My solution was to use Synaptic which worked fine.
