support for build-dep option

It would be great if aptitude had support for apt-get's "build-dep" option.

This sounds like a wishlist bug. If I'm mistaken, care to explain why it would be "great"? What's wrong with using apt-get?

I agree that it'd be nice, if only for the fact that aptitude marks packages that are installed because of dependencies. I just did 'apt-get build-dep vlc', and it installed dozens of -dev packages. Since they were installed with apt-get though, none are marked that way, so if I want to remove them once I'm done compiling, I have to go through and remove each one individually.

The information out there on the web has strongly led me to infer that mixing the use of apt-get and aptitude is a certain road to problems since they don't keep their databases in synch. That certainly makes it unnerving at best to use "apt-get source" alongside aptitude

Ahem. Same goes for build-dep. Also, note, apt-get doesn't support such useful aptitude options as --with-recommends, which could be very useful with source/build-dep.

This has already been fixed upstream and will be available for intrepid.
