Bug Description

Binary package hint: aptitude

I upgraded from hardy i386 20080311.

I had a problem with the windows manager. I decided to reinstall completely ubuntu.

I applied this process:
 sudo apt-get update
 sudo dpkg --set-selections < my_selections
 sudo apt-get upgrade
 sudo aptitude

after removing obsoleted packages from the list in aptitude. I Upgraded the packages with Shift+U. Aptitude crashed.

I forgot to say that I used the 20080311 DVD for Hardy i386.
I scrapped the previous install and installed the DVD. I then upgraded to today's packages.
