Bug Description

Binary package hint: aptdaemon

My operating system is Karmic. I update two or three times a day since updates are coming thick and fast just now. aptd crashes repreatedly. I also seem to have no services. I have no system logs, no cron. If I try to run services-admin my system thinks that gnome-system-tools is not installed. But if I attempt to install this it says it is installed. Thus:

 steve@diddy:~$ su
Password:
root@diddy:/home/steve# services-admin
The program 'services-admin' is currently not installed. You can install it by typing:
apt-get install gnome-system-tools
services-admin: command not found
