Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

update-manager 0.124.11, Ubuntu Karmic

1. Click "Install Updates".

What happens: The "Applying Changes" window contains a placeholder icon.
What should happen: Since this is a progress window, it does not need to contain any icon at all.

Actually you should use gtk.window_set_default_icon in update-manager to set a default icon in your application. It doesn't make sense for me to use a different icon for the dialog.

affects: aptdaemon (Ubuntu) → update-manager (Ubuntu)

update-manager uses set_icon() now. There is no place holder icon anymore, the fact that there is a icon is something that needs fixing in aptdaemon.

Nominated for Karmic: This is an ugly visual glitch that people will see every time they install updates.

update-manager just went back to Jaunty's style over here. Was the new look abandoned?

Right, for Karmic the old synaptic backend will be used.

Now I get it. You did not refer to the window icon but instead to the missing transaction icon.

This is solved, isn't it? Can we mark it as fixed?

I wouldn't call it fixed, as what really happened was a delay of the new
design until 10.04 (or later).
