Bug Description

Binary package hint: apport

1) lsb_release -rd:

Description: Ubuntu 9.10
Release: 9.10

2) Can't help, have no idea what the package name is

3) An attempt was made to launch the update manager via desktop menu (system/administration/update manager)
4) It crashed, bug reporting dialog box opened - and crashed as well. As I was trying to collect information to report, tried to start Synaptic - it also crashed (segfault).

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug report is public and visible to everyone but I noticed that it has an attachment named 'CoreDump.gz'. It is possible that this contains sensitive information so I've set it back to private.
