Bug Description

Binary package hint: apt

This may not be a problem, but I will submit it just in case. I have just installed Xubuntu 9.04 from the live CD and got several crash reports.

After I clicked on install, the repartitioning seems to have worked, but the boot loader does not. I walked away from the computer for about an hour. When I got back, it was updating packages and got the crash which triggered this bug report. After a few more crashed, I tried to reboot. I had been going for a dual-boot of Windows 98 and Xubuntu, but I do not get the choice of booting into Linux. I just get the standared Windows 98 choices. So far, safe mode is the one that had worked for me. Otherwise, the booting freezes, and I have to reboot.

This probably is a hardware problem. My old CD drive has failed. I will try replacing it and see how things go.

The title was completely correct and much better than yours, and the assignment is for those developers taking care of fixing the bug.

If you can shed some light on this, let me know. I replaced the old, dead CD ROM with a new drive, and this new drive died very quickly. It is very frustrating.
