Bug Description

Binary package hint: apport

I've seen an apport submitted package bug, bug 365328, where the reporter did not accept the license of the package. I think that if 'user did not accept the XYZ license' appears in the error the bug should not be reported at all.

ProblemType: Bug
ApportLog:

Architecture: amd64
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.04
Package: apport 1.0-0ubuntu5.2
PackageArchitecture: all
ProcEnviron:
 SHELL=/bin/zsh
 PATH=(custom, user)
 LANG=en_US.UTF-8
SourcePackage: apport
Uname: Linux 2.6.28-11-generic x86_64

Brian,

Thank you for summiting this item to help make Ubuntu better, but I think that this is more of a question then a bug. IMHO

Best Regards,
Leo

Unfortunately there is no standard way for a package to "fail" in such a defined manner.

Such a standard way could be defined and then be used by sun-java5 and apt, and apt would then not generate an apport report.

Changed in sun-java5 (Ubuntu):
status: New → Triaged
summary: - apport shouldn't report license declinations
+ don't report package install failures for declined license
affects: apport (Ubuntu) → apt (Ubuntu)
