Bug Description
Binary package hint: apt
hello, since kompozer crashes in ubuntu 8.10, I set repositories and public key to enable beta version of kompozer by a developper, (I think Giuseppe Iuculano) it worked fine for sometime and then again failed, and then both add/remove apps and synaptic manager only give me an error message:
E: Vous avez dépassé le nombre de descriptions que cette version d'APT est capable de traiter.
E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/
E: Impossible d'ouvrir ou d'analyser le fichier contenant la liste des états ou celui des paquets disponibles.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.
xxx@vero:~$ apt-cache policy packagename
E: Vous avez dépassé le nombre de descriptions que cette version d'APT est capable de traiter.
E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/
Merci.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner.
There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test the current Ubuntu development version (10.10). If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running apport-collect 363525, and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
