apt get

I got this message and hope you could help me out... i think its rather critical as i cant update or install programs..

tghe message was:
Could not initialize the package information

A unresolvable problem occurred while initializing the package information.

Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the following error message:

'E:Problem parsing dependency Depends, E:Der skete en fejl under behandlingen af btnx (NewVersion1), E:Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/repoubuntusoftware.info_dists_harty_all_binary-i386_Packages, E:Pakkelisterne eller statusfilen kunne ikke tolkes eller åbnes.'

im running ubuntu 8.04

Thank you for your bug report. have you installed a piece of software called Ultamatix by any chance? Could you please attach your /etc/apt/sources.list?

yes i do have ultimatix installed... if i uninstall do i loose my themes
and the other stuff that comes with

I don't know what will happen if you uninstall it, but Ultamatix is not officially supported by Ubuntu, and seems to be responsible for breaking a lot of people's machines (you aren't the first person to report this problem here). You should contact the developers of Ultamatix, so they can fix their software
