Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at [WWW] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a bug in apt.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Does it happen everytime you try to install using apt-get? Which version of Ubuntu/Kubuntu/Xubuntu are you using?

Changed back to new since this is still an issue for the reporter. I can not reproduce this bug, perhaps someone else will be able to.

Thanks for reporting this bug and any supporting documentation. Since this bug has enough information provided for a developer to begin work, I'm going to mark it as confirmed and let them handle it from here.

I can confirm this error using Jaunty development version 9.04, up to date as of 2009-02-10. I am attaching the files from /var/log after aptempting to run sudo dist-upgrade in the terminal. Running it a second time did not repeat the error.

Thanks for taking the time to make Ubuntu better!
