Bug Description
I'm running Xubuntu 14.04 LTS
apt version 1.0.1ubuntu2.1
After last update to 3.13.0-29-generic kernel I've tried to run 'apt-get autoremove' and it suggested to remove the following packages: linux-headers-
In Unity if these are removed the new kernel versions were never offered anymore on the subsequent system updates until these files were re-installed back. I'm new to Xubuntu but considering its relashionship with Ubuntu I would expect the same to happen here (correct me if I'm wrong, please). Hence I'm submitting this bug report.
I think the packages are not supposed to be suggested for removal when executing 'apt-get autoremove'.

Can you still reproduce the issue? Did you have some kernels installed that had greater version than the one that linux-image-generic depends on?
Please attach the output of
dpkg -l 'linux*' | grep ^ii
after this happens.
Maybe you had set package linux-generic as automatically installed? generic and linux-image-generic from being automatically removed.
Check that by
apt-mark showmanual linux-generic
If it prints the package name, linux-generic is manually installed, thus protecting linux-headers-
