update-apt-xapian-index crashed with OverflowError in index()

Running the Ubuntu 10.10 RC under VirtualBox 3.2.8 on a Windows 7 host. Crash occurred when trying to update packages to the latest versions immediately after booting the freshing install. Subsequently reloading the package list in Synaptic and re-running the upgrade process worked fine, so this isn't a major issue AFAICS.
