Bug Description

Binary package hint: apt-show-versions

After upgrading 9.04 -> 9.10
I see such messages
Use of uninitialized value $_[0] in hash element at /usr/bin/apt-show-versions line 728.
Use of uninitialized value in string comparison (cmp) at /usr/bin/apt-show-versions line 720.
Use of uninitialized value $archiv in concatenation (.) or string at /usr/bin/apt-show-versions line 315.

"apt-show-versions -i" solves the problem.

But in manpage I can read "If you run apt-show-versions as root the cache is updated as needed."
But I had to do it manually.

I ran across this. I generally run apt-show-versions as a user but it would be nice if it could detect that the cache needs rebuilding and prompt something like "cache needs rebuilding. run sudo apt-show-versions -i"
