Bug Description
Binary package hint: apt-file
apt-file assumes that the repositories in /etc/apt/
Witness: bug #179899, bug #567895, bug #181312, bug #220396 (tangential)
Should apt-file in Ubuntu somehow know which mirrors do carry Contents-<arch>.gz files, and (silently?) skip the rest, and perhaps even substitute a "canonical" (sorry!) server if the user hasn't selected any server which has the required file?
