I already had xubuntu 12.10 running fine.
I decided to upgrade to 13.04 through installation DVD .
all stages got over in less than 30 minutes but at the end it got stuck at "restoring already installed packages"

I kept on waiting for more than 3 hours and now also i have left on god , may be after 8 hours when i wake up it will done.

I have Pentium 4 processor with 1 GB RAM.

I am attaching , screen shots and videos of what was going on.

I havee also captured HD video of two minutes to show what was going on during installation.

I ran 'top' command on the shell as suggested by "#xubuntu " channel people on IRC.

I recorded the video of 'top' output in this.

In this video , i am also demonstrating the painting/display issue in ubiquity slide show... when i expand the deails button.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1174538/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

/var/log/ubiquity/syslog from the running upgrade would be helpful here.

let me know hwo else i can help you ?

another note. i left my cpmuter as it is after waitinf for 4 hours ( 4 hours in "restoring previously installed packages" )
and slept next day morning i saw it was done.

most people on IRC said that it was because of your 1GB RAM, you need to have more RAM.
