Fails to report crash (“Network problem”)

Bug Description

Apport fails to upload a crash report regarding aptdaemon, due to “Network is unreachable” (see attached screen shots).

But the network is working correctly. I'm behind a firewall, but the proxy is set up correctly and apport perfectly manages to submit other crash reports, only this one fails.

This crash (and failure to report it) reproducibly happens directly after login after rebooting the machine.

Oh well, it seams that the proxy settings are not read correctly, that is /etc/environment is not read and http_proxy is not exported. After setting these variables manually, it works as expected.

I think Stephan is suggesting that the proxy settings aren't exported to the environment in which apport is executed.

Certainly I've just tried to report an Ubuntu bug using apport and it failed to communicate with a similar message and I am using a proxied connection.

If I sudo su root - (the user I assume apport runs as) and look for proxy related settings in env there are none.
