Help->Report a Problem... gives no feedback

If you click Help->Report a Problem in Nautilus, nothing happens. At least, there is no visible indication that you successfully clicked the menu entry for over a minute, at which point a 'collecting information' dialog appears. By this time the user might reasonably have tried clicking the entry a few times, leading to several bug report windows all appearing on top of each other.

have you checked if apport is running in your session? look up at /etc/default/apport and check parameter enabled=1 and then restart apport (service apport restart)

AFAICT, apport was not running; enabled was set to 0 in the config file. If I follow the steps you describe and then repeat Help->Report a Problem..., the 'Collecting problem information' dialog appears almost immediately, giving the necessary feedback.

Perhaps apport should be enabled by default?
