apport will not run

Ubuntu 9.10 beta, apport 1.9.2-0ubuntu2.
When trying to report a bug relating to fsck, i couldn't get apport to run at all. I used every method on Ubuntu docs "Reporting bugs" with no success. In terminal typing /usr/share/apport/apport-gtk does nothing and /usr/share/apport/apport-gtk -f opens a window asking,"what kind of problem do you want to report", when selecting "other problem" a window opens saying " you need to specify a package or a pid...but there is nowhere to do this.Shutting down completely for 10 minutes and restarting , or simply restarting makes no difference. I have checked every log that i could find but i cant find anything.
Unfortunately at this time I cant provide any data to help with this problem, but will be happy to try and provide anything that you think will help.

I'm using Ubuntu 10.10. I have the same problem - it's impossible to report a bug under the "other" category because apport-gtk does not ask for a package or pid.

Thanks for taking your time to report this and sorry that it took so long for us to respond, this is still an issue but we'll be using bug 654928 to track it. Any further discussion about this bug should be done there. Please report any other bugs you may find!
