Hi,

I've just downloaded karmit alpha5 to check an application that I'm developing. After starting my program it crashed because of a bug. The apport window appeared to report a problem in my application.

After pressing "Report problem..." the current window closed and a new apport window appeared to fill a bug against apport software.

I've reproduced these steps several times and I always get the same behaviour.

Regards,
Tomás Vírseda

Tomás, can you please attach the relevant crash file from /var/crash/ which causes Apport to fail with this error? I suppose it does not have a "ProblemType:" field, which Should Not Happen (TM). Perhaps this file will give me some insight what it tried to do, or whether it is corrupted.

Thanks!

Recently I had Apport crashed with the same error on Karmic alpha5. I opened hamster-applet (that I built from git) from the panel, clicked Overview and it crashed. Apport tried to send a report and also crashed.

Alex, your report does have a ProblemType: field. Are you sure that Apport crashed with the exact same trace for this report?

Dogge, no, that's a different crash. Can you please file it properly? (ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_usr_share_apport_apport-gtk.1000.crash). Thanks!

Exactly the same scenario here as Alex Levin experienced in #6. I opened hamster-applet's overview (also built from git) and it crashed. While attempting to report this bug with apport, apport crashed.

The crash happened as it was attempting to gather bug and crash info for hamster-applet. It was immediately after I clicked the "Report problem..." button. In fact, that dialog (for the hamster-applet) is still up and I can reproduce the apport crash just by clicking that button again. I wish I could get more useful info while I'm in this state...

The bug is understood and fixed in trunk. No need to collect further
information.

This occurred during an upgrade from Ubuntu 9.04 to 9.10. I was not aware of the problem except that there was a Crash Report icon displayed which I clicked on.
