Bug Description
Apport does not use default web browser, here i'm using Firefox as default (and i checked it in Firefox menu Edition --> Preferences --> Advanced, General tab). I save any web page in a folder, then open it with double click, and Firefox opens.
Apport insists on using Google Chrome.

Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

It renders essential functionality of the package (or a dependent one) broken.

Does that only happen for system crashes? That sounds very similar to bug 1287460 which got fixed two weeks ago. Can you re-check with current trusty? Thanks!

I wonder if this has a clear meaning of defualt browser. I confirmed this bug by setting the defualt browser for lxsession it was not opening with that browser. I have found a workaround if I set the debian defualt browser through update alternatives or through the set debian default browser which was chromium during a crash. Then I changed that in defualt apps for lxsession to change debian defualt which updates the alernatives and then it opens in firefox. It would open in the same different broswer when I did ubuntu-bug as well. I am not sure of the equvilent settings in xfce.

Can you please give me the output of "sh -x /usr/bin/xdg-open http://
I cannot reproduce this bug on Trusty. Tested it by switching between chrome and FF as default browser and running ubuntu-bug. ubuntu-bug opens the correct browser.

I can't reproduce either. Feel free to reopen if anyone can provide reproduction steps.
