Bug Description

After installing Saucy yesterday, I had two bugs reported by Apport - one in Compiz and one in bamf. Both asked permission to send information and then collected information. After that, nothing. No error messages and the browser did not open.

I just tried 'ubuntu-bug apport' and this seems to have worked properly so I'm a bit confused as to how to report yesterday's problem.

I'm having the same problem. Apport goes through the motions of collecting information, but then doesn't upload it.

This appears to be because crash reporting to Launchpad was disabled for the Raring release [1], and it has not been reinstated so far for Saucy. According to jtaylor on IRC, it should be reenabled later in the cycle once things settle down a bit.

The crashes are always go to errors.ubuntu.com, its just that bug reports on Launchpad are not always created.

As Brian already said in comment 5, we always send crashes to errors.ubuntu.com. We just haven't enabled sending them to Launchpad again yet, quite deliberately; we traditionally start after alpha-2 (or around the time that used to be), but that's of course subject to debate.

summary: - Two bug reports failed with no error message
+ Launchpad crash reporting not yet enabled for saucy

Thanks, Martin and Brian, also - I apologize - missed your name.

So this is deliberate. So the issue here is that users like me, who had no idea that errors.ubuntu.com exists, and suddenly their apport seems to be not reporting at all. This is confusing.

So there are now two reporting backends?
