Bug Description

That kernel from raring-proposed is wrongly identified as an upstream by apport, so i report here the dmesg.log error:

  i8042: PNP: PS/2 Controller [PNP0303:PS2K] at 0x60,0x64 irq 1
i8042: PNP: PS/2 appears to have AUX port disabled, if this is incorrect please boot with i8042.nopnp
serio: i8042 KBD port at 0x60,0x64 irq 1
mousedev: PS/2 mouse device common for all mice

The main issues about that error is with the mouse plugged on usb when:
- i play with aisleriot: moving card works for a while, then grabing become impossible most of the time
- more annoying: when i want to select a block of cells into calc, its become unusable

@dino99 -- and does adding the kernel command line parameter suggested help?

hi Andy,

i've added the parameter into grub and the dmesg's error is gone now , but i suppose that the relationship i've made about the mouse issue is false:
- mouse activity is still normal for a while after the session is opened
- but let say after around 1 hour or so of using the mouse, if i do too fast mouse's movements, then comes the erratic game. Its like something was not refreshed or a buffer issue.

Does not know how to investigate more.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.7 kernel[0] (Not a kernel in the daily directory) and install both the linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb packages.

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

@Joseph

i'm actually using the kernel from the link in the above post, because i'm concerned by this change:

Jean Delvare (2):
hwmon: (w83627ehf) Force initial bank selection
hwmon: Fix chip feature table headers

but the issue is still there, and i've not seen something related inside the newest kernel's changelogs, so i'm waiting rc6 now.

your script seems ignoring that new kernel 3.7 serie, as it cant identify the latest serie. Either update it or drop it.
