Bug Description

Today when trying to use some keyboard shortcuts to navigate (mainly Alt + Tab, I'm not really sure which combination) I managed to crash Compiz. Then, in the middle of the crash report, Apport shows me this:

"""
'precise' is no longer under development, but technical support is still available and will give you quicker results than filing a bug here.
ALso, if you do have a bug, we will give it higher priority if you've gone through technical support channels first.
"""

I'm running the latest release, with the latest updates (updated a few days ago). I wouldn't expect such a message.
And no, I'm not using the beta. I installed this machine from a release ISO.

I also experience the same issue, except in my case you can reproduce it in one of the following ways. The all have something in common.

First way:
1. Start Google Chrome and open Gmail. Make sure the notifications are enabled, eg. by opening other tab and sending yourself an email.
2. Open Nexuiz in full screen mode.
3. Send yourself an email, so the notification appears within the game.
4. Try to close the game. You will see console and then login screen, but without ability to login to existing session.

Second way:
1. Start skype and make sure notifications are enabled (eg. by logging as someone else and seeing if you will be notified about your other account appearing online).
2. Perform steps 2.-4. from the first way to reproduce, except cause some Skype notification to appear instead of sending yourself an email (obviously).

I believe this may be an issue with such non-standard notifications that appear (in first case they are Google Chrome notifications, in the second they are Skype's notifications, none of them using Unity notification mechanism).

I'm also getting this - on an 12.04.1 Desktop installed a few days ago fresh from ISO! (My crash is in Intel GPU - but that's not the point here.)

@colan: I think we need some clarification. The title says it's about the apport notice that precise is no longer under development, but most of the posts are concerned with Compiz. The bug is also filed against the apport package, so before I, and others, add ourselves as affected, we need to know which problem you intended to report. I arrived here for the apport issue.

@Sean: Sorry, that was somewhat tangential. The point is that I got this message. I was simply stating how it was generated, when I hit that bug, but it probably doesn't matter.

Hmm, there are 4-5 different problems discussed in this bug report, but none in sufficient detail to take any action on.

For compiz crashes, file bug reports against compiz.

If a change in the error dialog wording or functionality is desired, file a bug report against xdiagnose with your recommended changes. For problems with Chrome or Skype, file bugs against those packages.
