apport-bug won't submit crash reports from files in /var/crash

I have had this problem since upgrading to Precise; when I invoke "apport-bug /var/crash/<crash report file>" to report a crashed program, everything works until I click the send button, at which point the window closes and nothing else happens. It still works fine for plain bug reports however.
