Bug Description

GNOME packages are beginning to ship appdata files, for use by software-center type applications (gnome-software at this point). See: http://people.freedesktop.org/~hughsient/appdata/

Software is encouraged to enable appdata validation during the build process. For this we use appdata-validate from appdata-tools.

This is used during the build only to validate a shipped xml file. It doesn't modify it, nor entail any new runtime dependencies. All depends and build-depends are in main already.

Packaging is simple and clean.

Desktop team will maintain.

I'm fixing the tests, hopefully in Debian.

Yeah, looks great except for the tests being disabled (which you're working on) and the Desktop team not being subscribed to bug mail.

Okay, tests fixed and uploaded to Debian. It should auto-sync, assuming my fix works ...

Only Seb can subscribe desktop-bugs, will ask him to do that when he's back. Hopefully you can approve and trust me. :)
