Bug Description

I wanted to install Apparmor, mostly so I could help test it. I installed apparmor following this guide: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/AppArmor

After I finished and rebooted when I do: "sudo apparmor_status" I get:

$ sudo apparmor_status
apparmor module is not loaded.

When I do: "sudo /etc/init.d/apparmor start" I get:

$ sudo /etc/init.d/apparmor start
FATAL: Error inserting apparmor (/lib/modules/2.6.20-16-generic/apparmor/apparmor.ko): Resource temporarily unavailable
$Loading AppArmor module: Failed.
- could not start AppArmor: Failed.
return: 116: Illegal number: -1

When I do: "modprobe apparmor" I get:

$ sudo modprobe apparmor
FATAL: Error inserting apparmor (/lib/modules/2.6.20-16-generic/apparmor/apparmor.ko): Resource temporarily unavailable

I'm not sure what is going on but since it doesn't seem to work after following the given instructions I am filing a bug report. Please tell me anything I can do to provide more information to help.

Thanks for the report! This has been fixed in Gutsy, but in the meantime, you can run "sudo rmmod capability" prior to starting the apparmor init script.

It would be great to get a backport to Feisty, since many of us are trapped with an ATI card and can't upgrade to Gutsy just yet (because the driver will prevent laptops from suspending).

I don't know how hard that can be to do; if you can do it, many thanks ...
