Bug Description
apmd causes hd to spindown multiple times a minute.
SOLVED.
update /etc/apmd.conf to change TIMEOUT value to 240 (20 minutes). You can set whatever you like, but ensure you set SOMETHING and uncomment some other options as well. By default the drive timing is used, which WILL WEAR OUT your notebook HD eventually. noticed foremost on Jaunty, as Ibex PPC for this ibook 600 WILL NOT INSTALL or LOAD properly. I don't know what happened with that release. Apparently it was never finished for the PPC. Possible issue with x86 as well.
