Bug Description

Binary package hint: apache2

As described by this bug https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=29744 , Apache mod_proxy connect doesn't support SSL connections properly in 2.2.

The fix has landed in Apache trunk, so should be part of Apache 2.4, but there is no indication that they're going to backport to 2.2. I was hoping the Ubuntu package could apply it. The patch on 2.2.16 linked in the tracker worked properly for me on the Maverick package. I'd be happy to provide a 2.2.17 version if necessary.

It's not an unreasonable request, but i'm not aware that lack of this feature causes a demonstrable regression or other bug against another package. Therefore it really should have a FinalFreeze Exception from the release team.

If you could provide a 2.2.17 patch or debdiff, it would certainly help get this moving

Additionally, if you are comfortable following the instructions here...
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FreezeExceptionProcess#General%20Instructions

It would be a big help!

Thanks.
