Bug Description

command was: sudo apt-get upgrade

Everything went fin until at some point apt ended with an error saying that resource was unavailable and it couldn't fork.

Indeed there was a fork error:

[ 313.769755] cgroup: fork rejected by pids controller in /user.slice/user-1000.slice/user@1000.service

You seem to have hit a resource limit. Do you have some custom configuration around resource limits, perhaps around DefaultTasksMax? Or a lot of processes running as the user 1000?

Does the following retry attempt fix it?

sudo apt update
sudo apt -f install
