Adbd crash on xenial: no phablet group

If I install on xenial only the android-tools-adbd

sudo apt-get install android-tools-adbd

and then try to execute it:

$ sudo -i
$ adbd
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

upon further analysis seems to be a permission issue (missing phablet group)
