I had the same thing happen. After moving a few letters, sound stops working and boom the process pegs.

It looks like this issue has been fixed in a later version of Anagramarama. (https://code.google.com/p/anagramarama/issues/detail?id=1&can=1). It is likely if the newer version were packaged this would fix the issue.
