Bug Description

Binary package hint: amule

I'm using amule 2.2.0~svn20080218-0ubuntu3 in hardy.
I have a ntfs-3g temp directory, and amule is flooding me with logs like this:

2008-04-08 00:35:41: Logger.cpp(269): Error: Impossible to set permissions for the file '/home/yelo3/Downloads/mule/temp/004.part.met.bak' (error 1: Funzione non permessa)

Having the exact same problem on Hardy with the exact same version of amule, I'm also saving to a NTFS folder.....downloaded files seem fine, but stil it is an annoying message and it grows pretty quickly

Same here (same AMule, Hardy with latest patches):
2008-04-24 22:24:19: Logger.cpp(269): Error: Impossible to set permissions for the file '/media/hda1/Temp/eMule/068.part.met.backup' (error 1: Operation not permitted)
2008-04-24 22:24:19: Logger.cpp(269): Error: Impossible to set permissions for the file '/media/hda1/Temp/eMule/068.part.met.bak' (error 1: Operation not permitted)

I did a DSKCHK /f from a boot CD and it showed lots of errors in 'index data'.
A few times AMule also crashed without a tracem and a lot of the partfiles were lost (just disappeared...) :-(

I too use Ubuntu 8.04 - Hardy Heron and aMule 2.2.0 snv 20080218-0ubuntu4
the error is:

Logger.cpp(269): Error: Impossible to set permissions for the file ...

but! I have a partition in FAT32, despite the mistake let me download files without any problem because the error appears in "part.met.bak" and "part.bak" but not in it ". part", format this partition again because fat32 I share with the windows with gparted, but the error persists, not to be.

Note: if you change the folder to a partition ext3 or ext2 works wonderfully, but could share with windows and eMule = (

Well you can use http://www.fs-driver.org/ in Windows

# sudo fdisk -l
/dev/sdax 5348 7476 17101161 b W95 FAT32

# sudo nano /etc/fstab
/dev/sdbx /media/Archivos vfat utf8,umask=000,gid=46 0 1

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 or 9.04?

with amule 2.2.5 on jaunty i've the same problem, changing the umask=000 from the fstabs and reboot didn't solve the problem, logging in as root to change permissions for user and group doesn't solve too.. ntfs.. ntfs.. bad beast!
