Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.
amavisd failed to start because /etc/mailname does not exist. You can work around this by creating it, i.e.
sudo hostname -fqdn > /etc/mailname
Of course, it shouldn't fail because of that. amavasd- new-2.6. 5/debian/ etc/conf. d/05-domain_ id should be fixed to call hostname or use /etc/hostname when /etc/mailname does not exist, as postfix does.
