Bug Description

Binary package hint: amarok

- Kubuntu Edgy daily upgraded
- Kubuntu dapper with latest updates
- KDE 3.5.5
- Amarok 1.4.3

After yesterday updates, Lyrc script doesn't retrieve lyrics from data-bases. It's always stuck at 'fetching lyrics' till it crashes with the error shown below.

unfotunately this is not a kde nor amarok bug, the website that hosts the lyrics is down ( http://www.lyrc.com.ar/ )

we ( as in amarok upstream and kubuntu ) are looking into some alternative scripts

Sorry for the trubbles

It appears that the only way to prevent a lyrics outage (similar to a power outage) is to have alternative scripts that access other websites, or to work with lyrc.com.ar and create mirrors or a load-balancing scheme to keep a single point of failure from bringing down the lyrics plugin.

How's this coming along?

Well, relying on one server maybe ain't such a good idea. Same problem occured at Hardy, the webseite is down for quite some time now. How about changing the default-script (lyrc is default, isn't it?) to something like Wiki-Lyrics? It's the nly one working I could discover.
A pity this hasn't been fixed properly the first time.
