Amarok doesn't play anything - immediately skips over to the next track

Binary package hint: amarok

When attempting to play anything in Amarok, it doesn't play a single sound, instead skipping over to the next track, and the next one, and so on until it reaches the end of the playlist.

Please make sure that the files exist, try re-importing a song and then play it. Could be an issue of a hard drive changing names or a path changing somehow.

you're likely missing the right codec
try playing an ogg file to find out

Okay, the file exists and it doesn't play it. Also, I re-installed the Ubuntu restricted codec pack, so MP3 playback shouldn't be an issue, but Amarok still refuses to play my music.

Hi, I can confirm that installing kubuntu-restricted-extras fixed it on my system. I am running Karmic Koala 64-bit.

I guess this was because of the libxine1-ffmpeg dependency, marking this bug as a duplicate of Bug: #432701
