Bug Description

I would like to know if there is or if is possible create a playlist view sorted by folder in the first level and artist in the secund level.
I don't know if you understand..so I will give a example..
into the folder Music(my collection) I have the folders
Dance
Tecno
Hip-Hop
U2
Linkin Park

amarok build my playlist very well, but not all the tags of my mp3 files are ok.
So my U2 (riped from the original cds) appear as "Unknow artist"..I know amarok can edit this information into his data base (amarok does not edit the file information ..right?)..
backing to the example..

I have the folders above.. and my amarok playlist..
I can sort the musics by Artist/Album or Artist/Gender...but is not possible sort it by folders/Artist/Album/Whatever.
something like this..
Dance
Tecno
Hip-Hop
U2/01-track
U2/02-track
U2/03-track
...
...
I know I can use the files tab...but in this case I haven't the same view of when I am using the collection view.
when I am using the files tab ..I am in true using the dolphin to navigate in my filesystem.

I would like of this feature in amarok. Someone here is a amarok developer?
thanks.

I know there has been work done recently about multi-level sorting by Amarok developers, but I don't know if there are plans to do so based on folder as well as information in the file tags.

Can you please try asking on #amarok and report back with what you find, Xuacu? Thanks!

Xuacu,

It looks like one of the Google Summer of Code projects, which involved a lot of work on Amarok's playlist, has been completed [1]. One of the features that it has is the ability to sort by directory (see picture [2]). Now, I haven't tested this myself, but it looks like what you were looking for.

This code is not yet available in Ubuntu without compiling Amarok from source, but it will make it into the upcoming Amarok 2.2 release. Please let us know once that release is available whether or not you feel the bug is fixed. In the meantime, I'll mark this as Fix Committed.

Thanks!
