Binary package hint: amarok

If I have a dynamic playlist loaded, and try to edit the smart playlist that it is linked to, it will crash amarok with a pop-up message:

 "Could not launch the mail client: KDEinit could not launch 'kmail'.: Could not find 'kmail' excecutable."

Specifically, I am trying to edit the smart playlist so that it chooses songs with a score greater than 75, and have not been played in the last day.

Also, each time this happens a process called python begins using 100% of my cpu.

Edit: The real problem is that KMail cannot not be found/was not installed.

What version of Amarok are you using?
Also you should probably report this to upstream at bugs.kde.org.

I think the problem may not be in amarok itself, it seems to me it's crashing since it is trying to find some kde application (kmail) even though I am running gnome. maybe the application should be a dependency of amarok? (though I don't understand why amarok wants to use a mail client)

No that is probably not the problem.
When Amarok crashes it opens Kmail with a mail containing useful information to fix the crash. If you want you can then send this to the developers.
So it crashed before this and not because of Kmail.

There is no version 3.5.8 of Amarok. This is the KDE version. Please check in the about dialog.

underneath about amarok theres an about kde, I must have clicked that accidentally.

I have installed kmail and sent the output after the crash to to the people at amarok.
