Amarok freezes on start up

Bug #1393074 reported by Rene Horn

amarok (Ubuntu)

Bug Description

Amarok completely freezes on me on start up. I had deleted all my settings for Amarok in ~/.kde/share/config/ and the directory ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok thinking that maybe it had something to do with my settings, but it's still just staying frozen when I try to start it up. Even after an hour, it still stays frozen.

This is on 14.10.

Please start Amarok in a konsole with these arguments:

amarok -d --nofork

and check the error messages.

I suspect it is a well-known bug in the 2.8 version with the analyzer applet (, if yes, here is the workaround:
disable the analyzer applet by editing ~/.kde/share/config/amarok_homerc and removing it from the plugins list

Also please file Amarok bugs downstream in, as for all other KDE packages
