Bug Description

Hello,
I am trying to set up a server for home use. Once fully installed, I'd like to develop a home website to the internet using WIX. I have an UBUNTU PC, and downloaded apache2 software. I have been experiencing difficulties installing utilities with it. I configured UFW for temporary firewall settings. Did not set up APF firewall. At first, had trouble with FQDN, but was able to configure it without the .com part. I keep getting an error message while installing SQL and PHP about an am-utils problem. There are also two files that cannot be found, a map and a "y" file that I can't remember now what it is. How should I proceed?

There are too many errors at this point with this os, so upgrading to 16.04 from 14.04. All data has been removed from the pc and stored on an external disk. am-utils continues to fail any install or upgrade processes, even though it has been replaced. (03-01-2018)

Hello,

I previously decided that I was not going to be able to solve the problem with all of the sudden errors I was getting, and the inability of the system to complete commands. These problems began when I attempted to use this pc as a local server in my network, using some apache downloaded software, which didn't take. Ever since, I have experienced difficulty with am-utils, which was not removeable, replaceable, or repairable. To be able to circumvent all of these problems, I saved all of my current files on an external hard drive and dumped the ones on the pc I had into the trash. I then went ahead and installed Xenial 16.04. Having high hopes that Xenial 16.04 would remove any conflicting programs through the installation, I monitored the installation closely, and found that some of the problems remained, such as the am-utils problem. I am continuing my search in finding the solution to this problem. There were some questions I had through this amazing installation process, such as me deciding if I should upgrade GRUB or not. I chose to just keep the original program, but now feel that it may have been better to replace it with the new version. I continue to get pop-ups during boot-up that a system program problem is detected, so I continue to report the problems as directed. According to my notes, gacutil.exe stopped unexpectedly, and bcfg2-server stopped unexpectedly, along with those errors, two pop-ups of Ubuntu 16.04 internal errors materialized. Error reports have then been sent out as directed.
I perceive that the am-utils problem is most probably the highest priority to solve, and the other conflicting programs should then be removed from the process subsequently.
Please include your thoughts and offer any remedial actions that I should take in alleviating these errors.
                      Thank You! Norm Tredo 03/03/2018
