I too experienced something very similar. I had selected to remove cupsys-common because of problems that were created after my last upgrade. When I clicked the button to remove, a ton of KDE packages were removed without so much as any confirmation. WOW... left me with a TOTALLY useless kubuntu system. THANK GOODNESS I had just made a dd backup of my system and was able to boot off the alternate disk. This sure does not boost any confidence in the adept package system.

i can confirm this. i have an daily updated kubuntu gutsy system and adept removed digikam, kdm, etc etc when i only tried to remove the kde4base-packages. Before I installed these kde4base* packages, kdm did not depend on kde4base-data or something.

I asked on #kubuntu on IRC and "zeke" experienced that adept "took way more out" than just cupsys* when he tried to removed the cupys* packages. Afterwards he couldn't boot because of unwillingly removed packages, and had to reinstall ubuntu.

Sorry about that last comment: apparently kubuntu-desktop depends on kghostview, but i can't delete my comment made a few minutes ago
